Pipe Covers

Most people paint their radiators with regular home latex paint. While it looks good initially, it wears off quickly and peels. Definitely not optimum the alternative is to use radiator paint. Last for a long time and comes in various colors to allow you to match your décor.  Again, this will eventually peel off, which is why pipe covers should be considered. The pipe covers come in various designs, colors, patterns, and so forth.

A more aesthetic alternative is to use a wood or steel encasement. These come in a variety of shapes and colors also, giving the room a more decorative appearance.  While more expensive, these come in surfaces that will last and not peel off. Two very good methods for lasting finishes are the pretreated and powder-coated steel, and the hand crafted treated wood frames or pipe covers. Both are long lasting and come in a variety of colors. You won’t have to worry about peeling or fading. Both are used in homes around the world.

Another advantage to the encasements is the ability to use them as another ledge for more decorating ideas. Place car keys on them, mail, flowers, or any personal touch you want. The different models allow you to be creative with different styles to fit your home. One style in the family room, another in the bathroom and still another in the dining room. All can be different colors, one can be wood, one steel. Having your choice gives you many options. You can use your imagination to its limit.

The main point is to cover the ugly pipes that will draw a person's sight when they enter the room. A peeling radiator will stand out like a sore thumb. It will detract from what you have done to make the room look beautiful. You need to do something to hide the radiator or make it blend in with the room.

Of the three option; paint, steel or wood, painting it is the cheapest, will last the shortest, while the other two will cost more, but will last a very long time and will give you options to use the tops for other things. Whereas you will not have as many color choices as with painting, you do not need to worry about peeling every so often requiring another painting.  Painting also requires a bit of time, and one must ensure he covers the entire radiator, not always easy to do. It is time consuming, tedious at best. I for one do not go for the painting option for those reasons. Having a professional make the encasement or pipe covers and have it painted to match your décor is a lot easier and will look better in the long run. There are many companies that will provide you with a nice looking pipe covers to fit your needs. I am sure one is in your neighborhood.
