Contour Casings report an increased use of the company’s Contour-Ply U section by plumbers and associated tradesmen in the installation of wall mounted boilers. Such installations inevitably lead to surface-mounted pipework which is undesirable and unsightly, particularly with the move to siting boilers in kitchens. A recent installation was at a social housing project in Birmingham where contractors Hazelhurst Heating were responsible for the installation of new boilers in 20 properties. Rather than leave the pipework below the new boilers exposed, the installation engineers from Hazelhurst ‘finished’ the installation off by capping the pipework with a single length of Contour-Ply which provided a seamless, attractive cover to the pipework.
The Contour-Ply was cut to size on site and fitted in minutes to a pair of lightweight timber battens and the tenant is reported to be ‘delighted’ with the finished result. Dean Finley for Hazelhurst Heating commented: “The Contour product is something we have been looking for, it’s quick neat and easy to install and far less expensive than trying to fabricate something on site, it’s also pretty simple to remove if the customer needs to access the pipework for maintenance”.
