Innovative Radiator Guards Are Celebrated in Birmingham

Anti-Microbial Radiator Guards from Contour Casings have recently been showcased at the WMTN Innovation Celebration.  Held at the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, the event was held to celebrate the successes of the WMTN in the 5 years since its formation.

The West Midlands Technology Network (WMTN) brings together a group of institutions from within the West Midlands, and focuses on working with partner firms to assist in the development of innovative products and services by making available their technical and research facilities and highly skilled and knowledgeable people.

Contour Casings has been assisted by WMTN, specifically through Wolverhampton University, to improve thermal properties of LST radiator guards and prototype new design innovations using state of the art 3D CAD models and resin scale models.  These were then used to gain customer feedback to assess market acceptance.

The projects have helped in the on-going development and improvement of the Contour Casings range of low surface temperature radiator covers, and assisted in the creation of 12 new jobs.

During the event, which was organised by WMTN and hosted by Lord Stafford, the Contour Casings radiator guard received many plaudits, in particular its many design features to reduce the risk of cross contamination of hospital acquired infections from the healthcare environment to patients.  This includes the use of BioCote® anti-microbial coatings, and ease of accessibility for cleaning the guard internally and externally.

Contour’s ranges of anti-ligature products for their products were showcased, including anti ligature grilles for radiator guards and anti-ligature shrouds for TRV heads.
