Our installation teams fit specialist radiator guards inside buildings and a wide range of metal architectural fabrications externally, including fascia, copings, soffits, rain water goods and column casings.

As we are experiencing long term increased demand for our installation services, we now require more installers to join the Contour team on a full-time and part-time basis.

Construction sector experience is preferable but not essential. What is essential is the right ‘can do’ attitude.

Successful applicants will start as Fitters Mates but will be expected to progress quickly to managing their own work. We therefore seek people who are able to operate on their own initiative and are willing to take responsibility for their work. Applicants must be willing to learn about our products and installation techniques.

By necessity some of our installation projects are high off the ground and applicants should be comfortable with working at height. Possession of a current valid CSCS card is desirable however supply of a card can be arranged, subject to industry requirements. A valid driver’s licence would also be preferable, but not essential.

Our projects can entail long working days and installers must be willing to work away from home, which may require an overnight stay. Occasionally installers will be required to work weekends, including from time-to-time, an overnight stay. Subsistence and overnight hotel accommodation will be paid for by Contour.

When not working on installation projects, installers may be employed, at a reduced rate, in our Telford factory in either a production or assembly role.

We offer good rates of pay for installation depending on experience and 28 days holiday per year (including public holidays).

Technical Sales Apprentices (2 posts)

Salary up to £10,000 PA

Contour Casings Limited is a dynamic and highly innovative designer, manufacturer and installer of specialist safe surface temperature radiators and radiator guards, and metal building fabrications for use in building construction.

The business has ambitious growth plans and we are now seeking 2 technical sales apprentices who will play important roles in achieving these plans.

The Roles

The technical sales apprentices will be office based and using Contour’s CRM (Customer Relations Management) system, will track live projects that have already been quoted and build a forecast of what projects are due to land and when. We would expect the apprentices to nurture around 300 project ‘opportunities’ each, with values of up to £10,000.

Learning how all of our products are designed, manufactured and installed is an essential part to the job role, as the apprentices will be speaking on a daily basis to a range of professionals within the construction industry. These include architects, consultants, building contractors and often the end user clients such as hospital estate managers and property developers.

Key objectives of these conversations will be to clearly communicate the features and benefits of our products, stimulate interest for the Contour offer over that of competitors and very importantly help build relationships to gain specification.

Throughout the year the Contour marketing team will produce and execute promotional campaigns to stimulate interest and demand for our products. The sales apprentices will play a pivotal role in following up on any responses to these campaigns, by phone and email, to identify and evaluate any potential business opportunities for quotation.

Future Prospects
As a business we believe in investing in our people and promoting personnel whenever possible from within to more senior roles, when the opportunities arise. Progression for successful technical sales apprentices would most likely take the form of promotion to an external regional sales representative position. When recruiting for the apprenticeships we will be looking for those individuals who display the personal qualities and potential to develop into these demanding and rewarding roles.

Who are we looking for?
Previous experience of the construction industry or a sales role, may be advantageous however it is not essential. What is, is the right attitude.

To succeed in these roles candidates must be results orientated, outward looking and positive individuals, who get a buzz from landing an order. They must have excellent social skills and will be able to build relationships over the phone, but fully aware that a phone call has a business objective.
It goes without saying that we are looking for people who are ‘team players’ but who will be eager to take individual responsibility to get things done. Successful candidates will have enquiring minds and will be keen to learn about the technical aspects of our business. In turn to be a success in the role, it is critical that technical sales personnel become fully conversant with the our product and service offer, and will be fully at ease in discussing project details with customers.

Candidates for the roles should have a minimum of 5 GCSE passes including English and Maths.

A basic understanding of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel in particular) and use of the Internet will be helpful, however full training will be given.

What are we offering our apprentices?
The two technical sales apprenticeships are provided for an initial period of one year after which time a full contract of employment may be offered, subject to performance. Contour will provide an annual salary of up to £10,000 for the successful candidates along with 28 days holiday (including public holidays) per annum. The technical sales apprentices will receive accredited training delivered by an external provider graded by Ofsted as OUTSTANDING, with a mixture of on the job and day release training, leading to a Level 2 National Vocational Qualification.

CAD Technician Required

Salary subject to experience 

 

The role

This will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Use of design software to create designs for manufacture
  • Creating General Arrangements for design review
  • Nesting for CNC machines
  • Creating manufacturing drawings
  • Interpreting technical drawings
  • Liaising with colleagues and clients to discuss briefs and present concepts
  • An occasional requirement to attend external meetings. This may require an overnight stay from time to time

Essential skills and experience

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following:

  • Experience of working with sheet metal
  • The ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
  • The ability to draw and create General Arrangements
  • A minimum of 12 months working in a similar role in a sheet metal, architectural fabrication or building envelop fabrication business
  • Experience of working with RADAN CAD/CAM software for sheet metal fabrication

Preferable skills and experience

  • Experience of designing with Autodesk 3D Inventor

Qualifications

  • It is preferable but not essential, that candidates are educated to HND or Degree level in an appropriate engineering or product design discipline
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
